We waited for the tide to rise and as soon as we were more or less certain we could leave safely, we motored out of the harbour. In fact there was plenty of water and as a little breeze came in we tried sailing towards Chichester Harbour but the wind soon disappeared and we motored on so that we could catch the last of the flooding tide past Hayling Island Yacht Club and on to Thorney Island where we anchored at the end of the moorings where we had anchored successfully before. All went well and we were so settled down for the night with the anchor alarm on as this was our first anchor deployment of the season.
