Took the fuel can with us in the dinghy and took the last of the flood tide up the river Fowey past Golant and up as far as Saint Winnow. By this time it was becoming quite shallow even at high tide. Although we could have gone further we decided to head back and catch the tide as it started to ebb. We had filled the outboard tank twice and so we decided to stop at the fuel berth to buy more petrol only to find we needed a debit card for the self-service pumps. We were about to leave when a powerboat (RIB) pulled up for fuel and the skipper kindly bought a few litres of fuel for us before filling up his own boat. A really kind gesture.
Richard had always wanted to explore the river and Anne wanted to make a recce to see if there was anywhere suitable to meet Prem, Charlotte, Jiya and Arjan when they come on holiday nearby, later in August. After lunch we went into town again to explore and again find places where we could possibly meet up with family as well as checking out the car parking options.
Richard managed a bit of celebrity spotting and saw David Mitchell, the comedian and author, and family walking through town. Played it cool of course and ignored them!!!
Then it was time for more shopping and a beer overlooking the harbour.
