Woke up to a rainy, windy morning so as we headed down the Medina we put one reef in the mainsail to find that one of the reefing lines was not led through the jammer correctly, so it was good that we had the opportunity to check this out. Once out of Cowes it was blowing 27 knots apparent at one time and we were sailing really well. Anne’s competitive streak came out when trying to overtake a bigger yacht going up Southampton Water.
Back on the pontoon at Marchwood to pick up our dinghy and pack the car and then motored up to our new mooring at Bury. We found it quite easily and although the strop was a bit slimy and horrible we were soon safely secured and on our way back to the club.
Then it was a short drive home and the end of a pretty successful shakedown cruise. The engine certainly had a good test and all the systems seem to be working well so we are looking forward to our longer cruise a little later.
