Monday, 11 August – Salcombe

The wind was forecast go easterly so we weren’t going to head east today. We needed provisions so we headed into town to find it very busy. Of course it is Salcombe Week which means more visitors. We did our shopping and then headed back to Harvard with the intention of paddle boarding as we had left the board inflated on deck. However as the wind had gone easterly we were now lying at anchor close to the shore so we moved nearer the centre of the river as we were now the only yacht in the anchorage.

By then it was grey and overcast with occasional rain and strong gusts of wind so we chickened out of paddle boarding and spent the afternoon with Richard nursing his sunburn, reading books and generally chilling out. Our plan is to stay one more day and then head for Brixham on Wednesday.

  1. It’s been a very hot and humid summer with strong easterly winds. Michael did the round the Island in their wild cat hobie on Sunday and came 1st or second but having trouble finding results as was at royal CI yacht club this morning.
