Had a nice sail from Cowes over to Southampton Water and most of the way to dockhead before motoring up to the club pontoon to find that a another club was visiting and space was limited. However, we managed to raft up to another yacht and whilst Anne went off to fetch the car Richard finished packing stuff away ready to take home or to prepare Harvard to go on the mooring.
We soon had everything in the car and motored Harvard up to the mooring at Bury. Once secured it was back in the dinghy to the club and home in the car.
Well we didn’t make it across the English Channel to France and to the Channel Islands but we did visit the beautiful Isles of Scilly again and had some fun. The winds could have been kinder. The weather does seem to be changing as we never had gentle sea breezes as in previous summers and everybody remarked on how there are much more easterly winds. The need to travel up and down to London also constrained us a little bit, but we do not want to miss seeing our grandchildren grow and as always life is just a matter of balancing different priorities!!
We will probably have another short local cruise towards the end of September so the blog will continue then. For now signing off.
