The Spring Bank Holiday, but it didn’t really feel that way with a chilly north easterly breeze and overcast skies. We felt there was no point trying to head off anywhere so decided to go for a long walk instead. First of all we made use of the shower and laundry facilities in Woolverstone Marina. Left the washing in the laundry room once it was dry, after waiting out the time in the yacht club nearby reading “yachtie” magazines. Then we set off across country as the sun came out to the village of Holbrook where we hoped there would be a pub for lunch. The only one we could find had obviously “gone under” sometime ago so we walked on to Alton Water where we could have a snack and a drink.
Lots of people around having picnics and barbecues and windsurfers and wing foilers out on the water enjoying the good breeze. Walked back a slightly different way through the Suffolk farmland enjoying the wildlife and birdsong. On arriving back we found the sailing club had Sunday hours so had closed at 4 pm. No beer for Richard!!
After checking in for yet another night on the swinging mooring we had another bumpy ride back to Harvard. Better prepared this time but we were still pretty wet when were back onboard. Packed the outboard and dinghy away before supper and nice glass of wine and prepared to head back to Ipswich Haven Marina the next morning.
