Shakedown cruise – Monday, 5 May – Lymington

Richard and Lizzie have their son William and his wife and children down from London for the bank holiday, so we agreed to meet up for tea later in the afternoon at the restaurant in the marina after they had set off home. We had the morning free so the first stop was the chandlers to buy Anne some new deck shoes, her old ones being worn out, and a few other odd bits and pieces. Then a trip to Jo Jo Maman so that clothes could be bought for Jiya and Arjan. Highly extravagant but Charlotte and Grandma does like dressing them in nice things!! Then up the high street for more odds and ends before food shopping at Marks and Spencers (best tinned meals) and Waitrose for the rest. The Waitrose in Lymington has a cafe so we were able to stop there to make a proper shopping list before we shopped. Sadly for Anne the art galleries she wanted to visit were closed so any temptation to buy more art was avoided!!!!

Made it back to Harvard with heavy bags and it was soon time to meet up with Richard and Lizzie. Had a really nice chat and Richard joined in every now and then, which was good. We said our goodbyes and were back onboard for a good supper and a good night’s sleep. The flu symptoms are gradually disappearing but it is slow going.
