A quiet night on the pontoon and left Marchwood YC mid-morning to catch the ebb tide. Raised full sail at Dockhead and actually managed to sail down Southampton Water in an increasing south westerly breeze. Once at Calshot it was again 20 knots apparent as we tacked down the western Solent. The wind came up to over 20 knots so we dropped a reef in the mainsail. Persevered until we arrived at the entrance to Newtown Creek, dropped sail and we were soon able to pick up a visitor mooring.
There is still a water gypsy anchored in Newtown Creek with his second boat sunk in the entrance channel. We were aware and had already spoken to the Harbourmaster about it. The wreck is well marked so we had no difficulty avoiding it. We sorted the boat out and were soon settled in for the evening.
