Woke up to a foggy, overcast morning and left the anchorage with some other yachts at around 09:00 BST with the intention of arriving at the Lizard at slack tide. One yacht passed inside the Shambles rocks and gained ground on us but we didn’t have the confidence to do this and went round the outside. The fog kept coming and going and occasionally was really dense. There was little or no wind so we were motoring all the time.

When we arrived at the Lizard we found the tide was already running strongly westerly and we bumped our way through the overfalls gaining a good 3 knots with the tide. A yacht appeared out of the fog and it was our friends Tony and Alethea (and Winnie the dog) on Doucement. We had a quick chat on the VHF and we will try to meet up with them later on in the summer.
Some yachts carried on towards the Isles of Scilly but it would be a late arrival for us so we headed across Mounts Bay for Newlyn. We were joined by a few dolphins for a short time which was nice. We need to be ready to take a video for Jiya next time as she currently has an obsession with mermaids and they ride on dolphins according to her!!
The visibility improved and we anchored outside the harbour. It was a bit rolly polly but we were happy reading books and settled in for the evening.
