Wednesday, 6 August – River Yealm

Always planned this to be a walking day so we were up bright and early to inflate the dinghy and head ashore this time on the Plymouth side of the estuary. Headed along the coastal path to Wembury where we stopped for coffee and cake and then headed inland. Much of the area is owned by the National Trust and it has created a circular walk (Clitters Wood) above the River Yealm, newly planted with trees. It is not greatly interesting at the moment but will probably be fantastic in a few years/decades time when the trees are mature. Then finished the walk back to the dinghy, just over 5 miles in total.

Walking up the hill out of Wembury. A hot day and no wind.

Went ashore for a shower and then off to the sailing club for supper. Very nice and made to feel welcome as a visiting yacht.
