Thursday, 24 July to Saturday 26 July – Plymouth

Whilst Anne was in London, Richard changed the gearbox oil and generally checked the engine over and then started to work on overhauling the pump for the holding tank. We have a tank into which the contents of the toilet can be pumped and then there is another pump that is used to empty the tank when you are at sea. This second pump was leaking slightly which is not very pleasant given the tank contents. It was quite a job to dismount the pump but once out spare parts were purchased, the pump dismantled, cleaned and reassembled with the new parts. After remounting the pump huge disappointment to find the pump was still leaking!!!!

On the Friday repeated the whole process taking more care in remounting the discharge valve and the judicious use of some silicone sealant. All finally worked well. Then a big clean up job to do. All a bit smelly and disgusting as you can imagine. Toilets and plumbing are notoriously unreliable on boats so all the problems were not wholly unexpected.

Saturday Richard participated in the local parkrun (some steep hills again) and then caught the train home.
