After a shower in the facilities ashore, coffee and shopping we slipped the mooring and again with the dinghy in tow left Falmouth heading east. On a flat sea with a gentle south westerly breeze we were able to hoist the cruising chute and have a nice sail all the way to Mevagissey. Our intention had been to anchor off the harbour and visit the town but the anchorage didn’t look that great so we tucked in just a few hundred metres farther south at Portmellon. This is only a fair weather anchorage but with a benign forecast we were fairly confident we would be safe and anchored just outside the two boats already moored there in about 8 metres of water.
It was a nice evening but we didn’t go ashore as we were nervous about leaving Harvard at anchor somewhere we weren’t confident about the holding.
