Thursday, 18 July, Portmellon to Cawsand

Not a bad night at anchor but unfortunately when we were ready to leave, what little wind there was, had a lot of easterly in it. After a quick look into Mevagissey harbour we spent the day sailing and motoring towards Plymouth. As we approached Rame Head under engine a yacht we passed hailed us and asked if we could provide a tow as he had engine failure. He couldn’t sail because there was no wind. We managed to catch a line and slowly towed him towards Plymouth. It was a heavy yacht so progress was slow but happily the tide was with us and there was no wind. We dropped him off outside the breakwater as he had some friends coming out to meet him and we headed into Cawsand to anchor. It was busy, but we soon found space and dropped anchor. A bit of a swell but with no wind forecast we felt very safe and enjoyed the evening watching the world go past.
