A quiet night at anchor but we found when we moved off that the anchor alarm in the chart plotter was not sounding. Whether the buzzer is no longer functioning or there is another problem will have to be investigated.
We motored slowly towards the Cuan Sound and were soon safely through and out into the Firth of Lorn. There was a good northerly breeze so we hoisted the sail and tacked north towards the entrance to Loch Spelve. The wind was a little up and down and sometimes a reef was good and other times we did not have enough sail up but all in all it was a great sail in cold but bright weather. It gave Thomas a chance to enjoy some sailing.
No trouble motoring through the narrow channel into Loch Spelve and we anchored in a strong wind in the northeast corner of the loch to make sure we were well away from a lee shore. Not sure if this was a good idea as the wind was really howling as we went to bed and at 1 o’clock in the morning there was a massive gust that woke us up. We had an anchor alarm app set up so we could see we the anchor hadn’t dragged but it was still a very uncomfortable night so we didn’t sleep that well. Thomas seemed unperturbed and slept through it all!
