Woke up to a lovely morning and as we were thinking about lifting the anchor two canoeists approached us and we realised it was friends Mike and Janet Gurney that we knew from Marchwood YC. They have now moved down to the West Country and we hadn’t realised we were anchored next to their gaffer, Passager. They came aboard and we had a lovely catch up on all their news.
After saying goodbye we set off in no wind east to Salcombe. As it turned out there was no wind all day and we motored with others on a flat sea. The first day we haven’t sailed for a very long time. No problems in the approach to Salcombe and the harbourmaster launch showed us which mooring buoy to pick up just off the town. We were surprised how quiet it was in terms of the number of visiting yachts but guess the lack of any summer weather has been putting people off.
