Saturday, 4 May, Oban

Whilst Anne took Thomas off to the station Richard went off to run in the local Parkrun at Ganavan Sands. https://www.parkrun.org.uk/ganavansands/

It is a tough course and as Richard hadn’t run for about 3 weeks after having a heavy cold and cough it was never going to be a personal best time. It was a 2 mile run out to the start from Oban but Richard still managed a reasonable time and was 2nd out of 3 in his age group. Richard cadged a lift back to Oban and then it was off for a coffee and cake and a major shopping expedition to stock up the boat for the arrival of sailing friends Gwynne and Tracy.

Richard checked the engine over in the afternoon and did some small jobs. On a berth nearby was a Rustler 42 so we walked over, introduced ourselves and had a guided tour. A very nice yacht but Anne is not convinced it is the solution for us!! Kevin, the Rustler 42 skipper, then came over to Harvard for a cup of tea and we swapped boating anecdotes and maintenance solutions.

Gwynne and Tracy arrived on the train in Oban after flying from Southampton to Glasgow without any problems and they were soon settled onboard before we had supper and discussed plans for the next day.

Tracy and Gwynne arrive on Harvard in Oban.
